OEM Cooling System Parts
The cooling system maintains your engine's temperature, and without it, the engine can overheat, leading to severe damage and even engine failure. Let's explore key components:
Cooling Hoses
Cooling hoses carry coolant (usually a mix of water and antifreeze) from the radiator to the engine and back. They're usually made of rubber or silicone materials to withstand the high temperatures and pressure within the cooling system.
Radiator
The radiator is the most visible part of the cooling system. It dissipates heat from the coolant, letting it cool down before returning to the engine. Radiators are typically made of aluminum or copper and consist of tubes and fins. As air passes over these fins, heat is transferred from the coolant to the surrounding air.
Thermostat
The thermostat is a temperature-sensitive valve located between the engine and the radiator. It regulates the flow of coolant through the cooling system. When the engine is cold, the thermostat stays closed, directing coolant back to the engine to warm it up. Once the engine reaches a certain temperature, the thermostat opens, letting coolant flow through the radiator for cooling.
